For a many years we have treated Alzheimer’s strictly as an amyloid-clearance problem. New real-world data from AAIC 2026 demands we look upstream. A large-scale study (4,940 propensity-matched dementia patients per cohort via TriNetX) revealed a profound shift: GLP-1RA users saw an 18.2% all-cause mortality rate compared to 21.1% in non-users (HR 0.67, p<0.001). While healthier-patient confounding always exists, this data strongly suggests that the true lever for slowing neurodegenerative progression might be vascular and metabolic, not just plaque. New data presented at #AAIC26 suggest a blood test could help bring highly accurate Alzheimer’s diagnosis into everyday clinical care. In a real-world study involving more than 1,300 patients and 165 physicians, access to blood biomarker results improved diagnostic accuracy in both primary and specialist care. Primary care doctors reached around 90% accuracy after seeing the results, close to the performance of dementia specialists. The findings also changed diagnoses in around one-third of patients and influenced care plans in more than half. The results could help reduce delays, referrals and long waits for people seeking answers about memory and thinking problems. Researchers in the United Kingdom are using the PrecivityAD2® blood test to prepare for the future acceleration of diagnosis and clinical decision-making in either primary care or for patients waiting to see dementia specialists. The collaboration is occurring through C2N’s partnership with the Davos Alzheimer's Collaborative (DAC). DAC’s Healthcare System Preparedness program has started the Accurate Dx program. Imperial College London is the only United Kingdom center. A study in Alzheimer's & Dementia asks how often clinicians follow up on memory concerns raised during the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit. Using electronic medical records from an academic health system, the researchers examined 1,411 patients who newly reported memory concerns (average age 78; 63% women). Few received a formal cognitive assessment (5.4%), a specialist referral (2.1%), or both (0.4%), and adjusted analyses found no significant differences by sociodemographic characteristics.
