Almost nobody is talking about the one thing that actually determines whether an e-truck charging hub will make money: Demand. Cars create traffic. Fleets create business. That's the difference. Too many projects still start with a site and hope that trucks will eventually show up. The best projects start the other way around: Secure the fleets. Understand the charging patterns. Build the business case. Then build the hub. A quiet milestone for electric trucking: ATC Logistics is retiring 11 diesel day cabs and replacing them with 20 Tesla Semis, operating out of Forum Mobility's FM Santa Fe charging depot in Rancho Dominguez, CA. Trucks and depot both target early 2027. The structural shift: electric trucks collapse parking and fueling into the same physical position. That turns fleet yards into scheduled, metered, revenue-per-position operations — with charging windows, energy cost curves, and per-session billing that a clipboard can't manage.
