Resource-based view

Grounded in Dynamic Capabilities and Resource-Based View (RBV) theory, this study explores how digital transformation influences business agility in the service sector through the mediating effects of business performance and competitive advantage. To test the hypothesized model, cross-sectional data were purposively collected from 394 respondents across five diverse service sectors (i.e., education, Healthcare, Bank and Financial Institutions, Hospitality, and IT) operating in the Kathmandu Valley. The data were analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0. The findings indicate that digital transformation, business performance, and competitive advantage are significant predictors of business agility. Further, business performance and competitive advantage mediated the interplay between digital 153 transformation and business agility. This study advances the digital transformation literature by integrating strategic management principles to explain drivers of business agility, emphasizing technology, talent, customer focus, and policy support to strengthen competitiveness in the service sector.

Bu politika raporu, Türkiye'deki Küçük ve Orta Büyüklükteki İşletmelerin (KOBİ) dijital platformlara stratejik bağımlılığını yapısal bir perspektiften ele almaktadır. Çalışma; gelir bağımlılığı, satış kanalı bağımlılığı ve müşteri erişim bağımlılığı olmak üzere üç boyutlu bir analitik çerçeve geliştirir. Türkiye KOBİ ekosisteminden derlenen ampirik kanıtlar; e-ticaret pazaryerleri, yemek dağıtım uygulamaları, sosyal medya reklamcılığı ve B2B aracı platformlarına olan bağımlılığın stratejik bir kırılganlık oluşturduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Rapor; komisyon yapıları, tek taraflı sözleşme değişiklikleri, algoritmik görünürlük yönetimi ve müşteri verisi kontrolü gibi mekanizmaların KOBİ'ler üzerindeki kümülatif etkilerini değerlendirmektedir. Improving business performance through resource-based eco-innovation [ecological
innovation] is considered a critical success factor not only for achieving sustainable
eco-competitiveness, but also for reducing the degradation of natural resources,
improving basic living conditions and capturing environmentally friendly
opportunities. In addition, it means that the business can not only reduce its
dependence on scarce natural resources, but also create conditions that will increase
its profitability, customer loyalty, brand value, corporate reputation, in short, its
sustainable competitiveness. In this context, a study was conducted to measure the
impact of eco-process innovation, eco-organizational innovation and eco-product
innovation on business performance by interviewing a total of 220 business
managers in industrial enterprises operating in Antalya. This study aims to determine
the effect of eco-innovation on business performance in the context of resource
based theory and thus to shed light on future studies. As a result of empirical study
analysis, it has been confirmed that resource-based eco-innovation has a significant
impact on business performance.

This theoretical research paper explores how a lack of infrastructural facilities affects the organizational performance of manufacturing companies in Kano Metropolis. The case highlights the importance of the infrastructure such as power supply, transport systems, and technological facilities in determining the operational effectiveness and staff productivity. By adopting the conceptual research method, the study will be guided by a broad examination of empirical and theoretical literature applying Human Capital Theory, Resource-Based View (RBV), and Organizational Learning Theory to anatomize a thorough insight on how the combination of infrastructure and human resource practices contributes to organizational achievements. Conceptual framework considers infrastructural adequacy as one of the determinants of organizational performance and multidimensional employee training (including needs assessment and design, implementation, and evaluation) as the mediating variable that increases the use of available resources. The presence of evidence on global, African, West African, and Nigerian contexts illustrates the prevalence of the issues emerging in manufacturing firms because of the gulf in infrastructures, as well as the approaches implemented to eliminate the adverse impact of these issues. Among the most prominent ones, it can be noted that infrastructural shortcomings significantly lower the efficiency of operations, restrict the productivity of employees, and hinder the overall performance of the organization. The research suggests that managers and policymakers should have twofold strategies, which are; first of all, they should enhance the infrastructural provision within manufacturing settings and second, they should invest in employee training and development to enable them achieve the best performance within a given infrastructural constraint. This research presents a guide on improving the competitiveness of manufacturing organizations in Kano Metropolis by connecting the theory, conceptual frameworks and practical findings and provides future studies on the infrastructureperformance relationships.

The relationship between Strategic Human Resource Management and organisational performance has been extensively theorised but unevenly examined across industry contexts. Most empirical studies have focused on manufacturing and traditional service sectors, leaving high-growth, innovation-driven media organisations comparatively underexplored. This paper addresses that gap by examining Netflix as a case study in the application of Strategic HRM principles within the global streaming industry. Drawing on Netflix's publicly available corporate documents, annual reports, ESG filings, and existing academic literature, the paper analyses four defining dimensions of Netflix's HRM model: talent density, freedom and responsibility, radical transparency, and performance-based accountability. These practices are examined against the backdrop of the Resource-Based View, the Behavioural Perspective, High-Performance Work Systems theory, and Strategic Alignment Theory. The paper argues that Netflix's HRM model constitutes a coherent and distinctive application of Strategic HRM that correlates strongly with the company's exceptional financial growth, market leadership, and capacity for continuous innovation. It further argues, however, that the model's sustainability is qualified by tensions between high-performance culture and employee wellbeing that existing SHRM theory has not adequately addressed, and that these tensions carry implications for how researchers and practitioners understand the long-term viability of high-performance work systems in creative industry contexts. The paper concludes by identifying directions for future research and offering practical insights for HR professionals and organisational leaders navigating similar challenges in dynamic, innovation-driven environments.

As higher education institutions (HEIs) are increasingly positioned at the forefront of national innovation systems, effective intellectual property (IP) governance has emerged as a strategic imperative. In the Philippines, national policies and institutional programs such as the Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO) initiative have encouraged HEIs to formalize IP management structures. Yet questions remain about how public universities, particularly in resource-constrained regions, are translating these mandates into routinized practice. This study presents a cross-case synthesis of IP governance in four public HEIs in Eastern Visayas, using the Resource-Based View (RBV) to examine institutional capabilities and strategic alignment. Findings show that while all four institutions have made meaningful progress in formalizing IP systems, the depth of routinization and strategic integration varies significantly. Cases with embedded leadership structures, budgetary autonomy, and faculty-centered engagement strategies demonstrate more mature and inimitable governance capabilities. The study contributes to the emerging literature on university IP systems in developing contexts and proposes actionable recommendations to support institutional learning and innovation resilience. By framing IP governance as a dynamic capability, the research offers new insights into how HEIs can convert policy frameworks into strategic assets that support both academic excellence and societal impact.

This study develops and validates the C.A.F.E. Framework-a dual-perspective measurement instrument for assessing customer relationship strength and sustainability in small business contexts. Existing measurement approaches rely predominantly on lagging financial indicators or simplistic perceptual metrics that fail to capture multidimensional relationship health. Grounded in Commitment-Trust Theory, Social Exchange Theory, and Service-Dominant Logic, the framework conceptualizes relationship quality across six core dimensions: Trust, Commitment, Satisfaction, Perceived Value, Resilience, and Value Co-Creation. A convergent parallel mixedmethods design collected quantitative survey data from 94 U.S. customers (C-RSS, 18 items) and 51 small business owners (SB-RSS, 15 items). Results demonstrated acceptable psychometric properties, given the sample sizes (Cronbach's α = .624-.970; CFI = .796-.924), confirming six-factor validity. Analytical Hierarchy Process weighting identified Satisfaction, Trust, and Commitment as primary relationship drivers. Critically, a 14% 'Neutral' customer segment exhibited a Net Promoter Score of -53.85 versus +72.15 for 'Good' customers-a 126-point differential revealing hidden churn risk. The C.A.F.E. scoring model classified customers into four segments: Committed (47.06%), Ambiguous (27.45%), Fragile (21.57%), and Elusive (3.92%). Systematic perception gaps between businesses and customers were identified, particularly in Resilience and Commitment. The framework offers small businesses an actionable diagnostic tool that transforms intuitive relationship management into systematic, datadriven decision-making.

Purpose & Research Gap: While Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is widely studied, there is a lack of empirical research analyzing its specific impact on competitiveness within the logistics sector of emerging markets. This study addresses the gap regarding how BPO transitions from a cost-saving tool to a strategic expertise-driven model. Methodology: Data were collected from 132 logistics companies in Croatia. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was applied to test the hypotheses and mediation effects, as it allows for a robust analysis of complex causal relationships between latent constructs. Key Findings: SEM results reveal that BPO engagement alone does not guarantee competitiveness. The primary finding indicates that the expertise of BPO providers and strategic partnerships exert a significantly stronger positive effect on operational efficiency and market differentiation than simple cost reduction. Contribution: The paper contributes to the literature by redefining BPO as a strategic driver of innovation rather than a mere cost-cutting measure, providing logistics managers with evidence-based insights for knowledge-oriented outsourcing.

The United Kingdom faces a persistent productivity puzzle that has seen output per hour stagnate since the 2008 financial crisis. This paper investigates the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a general-purpose technology capable of breaking this cycle. By analysing the diffusion of AI across the UK service and manufacturing sectors, the research explores how these technologies transition from mere automation tools to drivers of cognitive augmentation. Let me explain: the core argument posits that the UK's competitive advantage lies not in the raw adoption of AI, but in the institutional and cultural readiness to reorganise business models around these capabilities. Through a critical review of existing economic frameworks and recent UK-specific data, this study demonstrates that effective business decision-making now requires a synthesis of human intuition and algorithmic precision. Here is what matters: without a fundamental shift in management practices and a focused investment in human capital, the productivity gains of the AI era will remain elusive.

Financial technology (FinTech) has been positioned as a driver of financial inclusion for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in emerging economies. Prior research has generally concentrated on adoption intentions and short-term efficiency effects, offering limited insight into how digital financial tools generate sustained strategic value. This study addresses this gap by developing an integrative framework that combines the technology acceptance model (TAM), the resource-based view (RBV) and competitive strategy perspectives to explain how FinTech deployment translates into competitive advantage. Using survey data from 113 micro and MSMEs in Ghana and partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), the study examines the relationship between adoption perceptions and post-adoption organizational integration. The findings indicate that perceived ease of use is the strongest antecedent of adoption, while perceived usefulness does not exert a significant direct effect in this context. More critically, deeper organizational integration of FinTech is associated with competitive advantage through gains in cost efficiency, operational agility and service differentiation. These findings reconceptualize FinTech as a strategic capability rather than a transactional tool, whose value depends on embedding it within core business processes, with implications for managerial practice and digital finance policy in emerging economies.

This study investigates whether environmental conservation costs (ECC) support the operational effectiveness and financial stability of Japanese manufacturing firms. Using a balanced panel of 128 non-financial companies listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange from 2010 to 2022, we manually collected firm-level ECC data based on the Ministry of
the Environment, Japan's guidelines from sustainability reports and matched them with financial data from Compustat Global/S&P Capital IQ. Applying pooled ordinary least squares regression with firm-level clustered standard errors and winsorized variables, we examine two aspects of performance as measures of operating efficiency and profitability: asset turnover and profit margin. The results show that ECC is positively associated with asset turnover and profit margin, and that the effect is stronger in more profitable companies, substantiating the Resource-Based
View that green practices generate competitiveness. These findings contribute to sustainability finance research by going beyond perceptual measures of environmental, social, and governance ratings, and measuring actual firm-level spending on environmental activities, thereby providing more nuanced insights into how environmental practices
translate into actual financial performance. This study offers clear managerial and policy implications by showing that transparent environmental conservation costs improve disclosure quality and serve as a measure of improved efficiency and profitability.

This study investigates how exploitative leadership diminishes employees' green innovative behavior, emphasizing the mediating role of emotional exhaustion and the moderating role of Green Human Resource Management (GHRM). Drawing on resource depletion theory, we argue that exploitative leadership drains employees' psychological resources, reducing their capacity for environmentally innovative behaviors. Using a three-wave design with a synthetic dataset (N = 400) constructed to reflect theoretical expectations, we test a moderated-mediation model through regression and bootstrapping techniques. Results demonstrate that emotional exhaustion significantly mediates the relationship between exploitative leadership and green innovation, while GHRM weakens the positive association between exploitative leadership and exhaustion. Conditional indirect effects reveal that the indirect pathway from exploitative leadership to reduced green innovation is strongest when GHRM is weak and substantially weaker when GHRM is strong. These findings extend destructive leadership research into the environmental domain and highlight the protective role of organizational-level HRM systems. Implications for leadership development and sustainability practices are discussed.

This paper views the economic growth experience in Morocco from the perspective of private firms. Using models of optimal firm size as a theoretical framework, the paper analyzes empirically the factors affecting the growth process of Moroccan private firms. The analysis is based on a field survey of 370 firms carried out under the auspices of the World Bank in 1998. The sample includes firms of different sizes, from more than 100 workers to 5 workers or fewer. It also covers all major economic sectors: manufacturing, construction, services, and commerce. The principal factors promoting firm growth are business strategies that are focused on product diversification and market share expansion; location in large urban centers; legal status as a limited liability company; the presence of price competition; presence in markets with high demand; and certain government policies such as labor regulations, anti-trust and environmental policy. The principal factors impeding firm growth are lack of access to qualified workers and managers; location in smaller population centers; and certain other government policies such as regulation of foreign trade and policies that promote domestic price volatility.

This study examines how perceived cluster resource attractiveness (PCRA) shapes coopetition among co-located firms and how coopetition translates those resource perceptions into knowledge sharing and innovation. Building on the resource-based view, we model coopetition as the mechanism through which managers leverage valuable, unique, and complementary cluster resources into firm outcomes, and we theorize that engagement mode in cluster activities conditions this translation. Using survey data from 221 firms in a business cluster, we estimate a moderated-mediation model with regression and corroborate the results with a latent-variable SEM robustness check. Findings show that PCRA increases coopetition, and coopetition in turn enhances both knowledge sharing and innovation. However, the indirect effects depend on participation type: formal participation attenuates the coopetition to outcome link, especially for innovation, informal participation is directionally positive but statistically non-significant, and an aggregate participation robustness test confirms attenuation when firms engage in formalized participation. The study introduces PCRA as an operationalization of cluster-level resource heterogeneity, positions coopetition as an RBV-consistent mechanism, and identifies governance-based boundary conditions limiting the returns to coopetition. Practically, managers should leverage informal ties and selective formal involvement to convert cluster resources into knowledge and innovation while avoiding overformalization that can dampen coopetitive gains.

Firm resources have been considered to be firm strategic assets and have an important role in gaining a competitive advantage. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of internal resources that leads to bank competitiveness in Indonesia. To this end, this study adopts a resource - based view concept to identify the firm resources that influence bank competitiveness. A regression analysis is built on balanced panel data set comprising 30 observations of top 10 Indonesia commercial banks (key players) ranging from 2013 to 2015. All data were collected from secondary sources. The analysis reveals that capital adequacy ratio (CAR), branch network, and brand value are significantly related to bank competitiveness, which is measured by return on asset (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). Building on the conceptual propositions advanced by in "Bridging Experience and Execution: An Analytical Perspective on Customer Experience Management and Retail Sales and Distribution in Nigeria's Telecommunications Sector," this study empirically investigates Strategic Leadership Integration (SLI) as a dynamic capability that enables leadership ambidexterity in Nigeria's telecommunications industry. To maximize agricultural operations and ensure increased productivity, sustainability, and efficiency, precision agriculture makes use of innovative technologies. This review article examines the incorporation of artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, cloud computing, and Internet of Things sensors as they relate to agrarian engineering. IoT sensors are essential to the collection of real-time data because they offer insightful information about crop status, weather patterns, and soil health. The efficient data processing, storage, and accessibility made possible by cloud computing make scalable and real-time analytics possible. While automation technologies, like robotics and autonomous systems, improve operational efficiency and save labor costs, AI and ML help with predictive analytics, illness diagnosis, and fertilization process optimization. This study showcases case studies that demonstrate how these technologies have been successfully implemented, emphasizing the observable advantages in terms of increased yield, reduced costs, and resource conservation. It also goes into the technological, financial, and privacy issues that come with combining various technologies, it provides information on existing constraints and possible workarounds. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) was established in 2015, upon China's initiative for meeting mainly infrastructure needs in Asia. As a China-promoted organization, the AIIB has triggered academic interest mainly in the context of international relations, while overlooking business aspects. For remedying this neglect, this paper tries to understand if, how and to what extent the AIIB can dispose of the necessary funds for meeting its mission aspiration of bridging the infrastructure gap in Asia. To do so, the paper evaluates AIIB's forecasted activity level in a Resource Based View approach. Based on the bank's resource profile, as elaborated and analyzed based on the bank's business model, the paper posits that the AIIB cannot cover sufficiently the targeted infrastructure investment needs. AIIB's financing abilities are limited by its own capital-markets' borrowing capacity, which is largely beyond the bank's control and primarily dependent on investors' attitudes. The current AIIB's borrowing capacity can bear forecasted financing operations that by 2027 are expected to represent less than 1% of the Asian infrastructure needs, demonstrating a misbalance between AIIB's business and political impact.

The digital transformation of agriculture has become essential for enhancing productivity, sustainability, and efficiency. This survey paper presents an overview of existing research and technologies related to smart agricultural management systems, focusing on fertilizer distribution, labour allocation, and supply chain optimization. The purpose of this study is to analyze current digital platforms and identify technological gaps that hinder integration across agricultural operations. A systematic literature review was conducted using databases such as IEEE Xplore, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, selecting studies published between 2015 and 2025 that emphasize IoT-based monitoring, cloud computing, and data-driven decision-making in agriculture. The survey reveals that while numerous systems exist for individual tasks like soil monitoring or logistics, few provide a unified solution for end-to-end management. Major findings highlight the need for interoperability, scalability, and user-friendly interfaces to promote adoption among farmers and stakeholders. The results underscore the potential of integrated platforms like AgriNet which can streamline operations, enhance transparency, and support sustainable farming practices .

The COVID-19 pandemic led to a shift in the Malaysian education system from traditional face-to-face teaching to online and open distance learning (ODL). This transition has impacted students, lecturers, and universities. E-books are one technology that supports online learning at the university level. This study aims to investigate the factors influencing e-book acceptance among students. Using quantitative research, a questionnaire was administered to 171 students at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Melaka Campus, who are enrolled in strategic management course. The findings reveal a significant impact of course content, instructors, and university support on e-book acceptance. However, there was no significant effect observed for access ability, computer competency and infrastructure. These insights are crucial for universities to plan and implement e-books effectively for their students. As the study is specific to UiTM Melaka Campus, it is recommended that future research encompasses both public and private universities for a more comprehensive understanding.

本論文では、3自由度における姿勢表現の性質を実験的に評価した結果を報告する。姿勢推定に線形回帰を用いる手法を前提とする。まず、線形的な見えに基づく姿勢推定手法の仕組みを説明し、そのために必要な姿勢表現の性質を説明する。次に、4つの姿勢表現(回転行列、ZYX{オイラー角、指数マップ、単位四元数) が性質を満たしているかどうかを考察し、回転行列のみ性質を満たすことを説明する。そして実際に、4つの姿勢表現をそれぞれ用いて姿勢推定を行い、推定誤差を比較する。その結果から、回転行列を用いた場合が最も推定誤差が小さいことを実験的に示す。We report a result of an experimental study on properties of pose representations for 3DOF linearpose estimations. We use linear regression as a pose estimation method. First, we explain a method of linear poseestimation and two properties of pose representations. Next, we use four pose representations (rotation matrix, ZYX Euler angle, exponential map, and quaternion), and consider whether each pose representation satisfy the properties. 本論文では、球関数を用いた新しい姿勢表現を提案する。これは見えに基づく姿勢推定による3自由度回転の姿勢を表現するためのものである。まず、従来行われている1自由度の姿勢表現方法がフーリエ基底で表せることを示し、それを球面調和関数により2自由度に拡張する。そして、3自由度の姿勢を、SO(3)上の連続関数を球関数を用いて表す。この姿勢の球関数表現と単位四元数・回転行列による表現との変換も与える。この球関数表現を用いた姿勢推定の結果を示し、提案方法の有効性を議論する。We propose a novel representation of pose in 3 degrees-of-freedom (DOF) for view-based pose estimation. First we show that a conventional representation of pose in 1 DOF is a Fourier basis, and extend the observation to 2 DOF with spherical harmonics. The knowledge and understanding of these attributes can be of great value to 3PLs when developing marketing strategies to attract and retain clients.

A literature review was carried out to identify the main attributes of freight logistics service quality. In-depth interviews were subsequently undertaken to validate and refine the freight logistics service attributes. A questionnaire was then developed and a survey conducted. Logistics regression analyses were performed to examine the impact of freight
logistics service attributes on shippers’ decision to select 3PLs.

A total of 24 freight logistics service attributes were identified and categorised based on the SERVQUAL model into six dimensions: reliability, assurance, tangibility, empathy, responsiveness, and cost. Freight logistics service quality was found to impact shippers’ selection of 3PLs significantly. In the assessment of the impact of each individual service attribute it was observed that accuracy of documents; EDI and Ecommerce services; customer relationship management; customer care; updated freight rates; and consolidation provision significantly influenced how shippers selected 3PLs.
The focus of the study is limited to international freight logistics services, while other logistics services, such as inventory management or warehouse management, were not included. The context of the study is related to Thailand and the provision of international freight service in the country. An understanding of key attributes based on key freight logistics service quality can help 3PLs in developing marketing strategies that provide services that are considered to be critically important to their customers.

attributes and their respective impact on shippers’ decision-making process when choosing a 3PL.

This study discusses how companies develop their manufacturing capabilities through learning and the mastery of processes and equipment based on the resource-based view. Resources and capabilities are formed through an internal and external learning process, also from processes and equipment owned by the company. Data are collected through surveys and selected based on purposive samples. By involving 61 respondents from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the study found that there is no significant influence of internal and external learning on the mastery of production processes and equipment, however, both internal and external learning directly influence manufacturing capability. It is also found that mastery of processes and equipment significantly influences manufacturing capability. It indicates that the achievement of manufacturing capability within the company is strongly influenced by the learning process within the company which is developed based on the resource-based view. This study is expected to contribute to the strategic and operational management literature regarding the implementation of resource-based theory into practices through strategy formulation to develop manufacturing capability, especially in MSMEs.

The large volume of publications in any research area can make it difficult for researchers to track their research areas' trends, challenges, and characteristics. Bibliometrics solves this problem by bringing statistical tools to help the analysis of selected publications from an online database. Although there are different works in security, our study aims to fill the bibliometric gap in the authentication and threat model area. As a result, a description of the dataset obtained, an overview of some selected variables, and an analysis of the ten most cited articles in this selected dataset is presented, which brings together publications from the last 28 years in these areas combined.

As environmental sustainability, digital transformation, and innovation become increasingly critical organizational priorities on a global scale, the transformative role of leadership in these processes has gained prominence. In this context, green transformational leadership is recognized as a key driver of organizational transformation, not only through its environmentally focused strategic orientation but also through its ability to shape employee behaviors. This study aims to examine the impact of green transformational leadership on digital transformation and innovative behavior, while exploring the mediating role of employees' financial needs. The research was conducted with data collected from 426 employees of small and medium-sized enterprises operating in Giresun and Kars provinces. Employing a quantitative research design, the study utilized structural equation modeling and conducted comprehensive analyses of scale validity, reliability, and mediation tests. The findings reveal that green transformational leadership has a significant and positive effect on both digital transformation and innovative behavior. Furthermore, financial needs were found to partially mediate the relationships between these constructs. The results indicate that leadership support, when reinforced by perceptions of financial security, yields stronger outcomes in cognitively demanding processes such as digital transformation and innovation. Based on these findings, it is emphasized that organizations should approach green leadership practices not only from an environmental sustainability perspective but also by integrating them with employee well-being and digitalization capabilities. The study provides practical and theoretical contributions to the literature by holistically addressing the interaction between green leadership and financial needs in the context of digital transformation and innovative behavior.

This paper uses an analytical frame comprised of agency theory and a resource based perspective to explore the influence of boards of directors on listed companies' voluntary disclosure of information concerning intellectual capital [IC]. The IC disclosures in 75 published company reports of 15 listed Portuguese companies in a five year period of financial crisis, 2007 to 2011, are investigated using content analysis and regression techniques. IC disclosures are found to increase with company size, dual corporate governance models, industry, listing on sustainability indexes, and increases in board size up to a maximum point (beyond which disclosures decrease). IC disclosures are reduced by CEO duality and by a higher proportion of independent directors on boards. The year of reporting is not significant, suggesting that the period of financial crisis did not influence the level of IC disclosures. The evidence adduced is consistent with a view that highly visible companies acknowledge the importance of IC disclosures in maintaining their reputation and competitive advantage, even during a period of financial crisis. This paper highlights the need for caution in believing that adding extra directors to an existing board will lead to improved disclosure outcomes. Additionally, given the token number of females appointed to boards currently, the Portuguese capital market regulator should consider enforcing measures to ensure compliance with EU objectives.
