How can social sciences contribute to the discussion on scientific knowledge and technological application? It is presented an introduction of the main Sociology of Knowledge (SK) authors, until its unfolding so called Sociology of Scientific Knowledge (SSK). The studies in this recent field can contribute to a better perception of the role of science on the modern society, especially in the context of the teaching of sciences in Science-Technology-Society approach. Note that the SSK suggests a multiple scientific practice, one that involves several actors in its execution and takes into consideration the social aspects in the production and application of science, aspects that need to be included in the science education. Journal publications are important to facilitate knowledge sharing among production and operations management (POM) academics and practitioners. The purpose of this study was to explore the global POM research performance based on papers published in 20 core POM journals in the past half century. The data for the study were obtained from Thomson Reuters' Web of Science/Knowledge databases, from 1959 to 2008, when 63,776 papers were published in POM journals. The annual distribution of papers published shows a significant growth in POM research productivity over the time period 1959 to 2008. The most productive authors in these five decades were T.

The phenomenon of entrepreneurial universities has received considerable attention over the last decades. An entrepreneurial orientation by academia might put regions and nations in an advantageous position in emerging knowledge-intensive fields of economic activity. At the same time, such entrepreneurial orientation requires reconciliation with the scientific missions of academia. Large-scale empirical research on antecedents of the entrepreneurial effectiveness of universities is scarce. This contribution examines the extent to which scientific productivity affect entrepreneurial effectiveness, taking into account the size of universities and the presence of disciplines, as well as the R&D intensity of the regional business environment (BERD). In addition, we assess the occurrence of trade-offs between different transfer mechanisms (contract research, patenting and spin off activity). The data used pertain to 105 European universities. Our findings reveal that scientific productivity is positively associated with entrepreneurial effectiveness. Trade-offs between transfer mechanisms do not reveal themselves; on the contrary, contract research and spin off activities tend to facilitate each other. Limitations and implications for future research are discussed.

In the universe of scientific disciplines, even with the considerable gain of autonomy in recent years, the Information Science is seen as a science that helps other areas of knowledge. Such fame is due to the fact that Information Science has as one of its main abilities the organization and dissemination of scientific information, which directly impacts on the advance of scientific knowledge in other areas. In relation to Medicine, Information Science has developed close links over the years, including the field of Neglected Tropical Diseases. Based on this, we intend to investigate the current panorama of the contributions of Information Science to the domain of neglected tropical diseases, in high-impact publications. For this purpose, the Web of Science database was chosen. The period defined for the analysis was from 1945 to 2017, in order to follow the entire historical trajectory of the interdisciplinary relations contained in that database. The main results were as follows: only 0.042% of the scientific production on neglected tropical diseases was produced by the area of Information Science; The scientific production of Information Science on neglected tropical diseases is significantly based on issues related to collaboration, publications, databases, periodicals, scientific literature, bibliometrics and decision making. The main diseases considered as the focus of these studies are: dengue, leprosy and schistosomiasis. Africa emerges as the application context most used in studies.

Based on longitudinal data for a matched sample of 592 Italian academic inventors and controls, the paper explores the impact of patenting on university professors' scientific productivity, as measured by publication and citation counts. Academic inventors, that is, university professors who appear as designated inventors on at least one patent application, publish more and better quality papers than their non-patenting colleagues, and increase their productivity after patenting. Endogeneity problems are addressed by using instrumental variables and applying inverse probability of treatment weights. The beneficial effect of patenting on publication rates last longer for serial academic inventors. However, the positive effect of patenting on scientific productivity largely differs across scientific fields, being particularly strong only in pharmaceuticals and electronics.

Literature on the conversion from intensive to organic farming is scarce. However, both the conversion of farmers to organic farming and of consumers to organic food are the driving forces for the development of the organic sector. In this review, we combine agricultural and social scientists' viewpoints for a critical appraisal of literature on conversion to organic food and farming. First, a brief historical retrospective enables us to refer the scientific production to the institutional and economic context over the past decades. Secondly, we review the methods used to analyse conversion in agricultural and social sciences, and show that emphasis is most often laid upon the effects of conversion and the motivations to convert, on the basis of comparative approaches with so-called conventional agriculture. Therefore, the literature minimises the importance of transitional aspects and trajectories, and rarely approaches conversion as a longer process than its legal duration and from a wider point of view. Thirdly, we examine the paradigms of input efficiency and system redesign, which frame discussions about transitions in agriculture, beyond organics, and therefore helps shed light on sustainability issues. Age effects in scientific production are a consolidated stylised fact in the literature. At the level of scientist productivity declines with age following a predictable pattern. The problem of the impact of age structure on scientific productivity at the level of institutes is much less explored. The paper examines evidence from the Italian National Research Council. The path of hiring of junior researchers along the history of the institution is reconstructed. We find that age structure has a depressing effect on productivity and derive policy implications. The dynamics of growth of research institutes is introduced as a promising research field.

Post-graduate courses are periodically evaluated in accordance with not always very clear criteria by CAPES (Co-ordinating Committee for Teaching Staff Improvement). These criteria try to measure, among other things, academic productivity (including quantity and quality of scientific production), number of classes given by teachers, time to complete the courses and so on. Quantitative measurement of academic excellence is not generally carried out; the assessment takes into account only qualitative criteria. This article has two aims: one is to evaluate the ability of postgraduate engineering programmes to produce published scientific papers from masters' degrees and doctoral theses, the other, to measure the scientific production of each programme relative to the resources put at its disposal. In both cases, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models are used.

We reviewed 1333 papers published in Biotropica and the Journal of Tropical Ecology from 1995 to 2004. Only 62 percent of tropical countries were represented in our survey, with 62 percent of the publications based on research conducted in only ten countries. Sixty-two percent of papers had lead authors that were based at institutions outside the country where the research was conducted. Cross-national collaboration was limited, accounting for only 28 percent of papers with multiple authors. To evaluate if our choice of focal journals could have biased our results, we also reviewed 652 papers published in Ecology, Oecologia, Conservation Biology, and Biological Conservation for five randomly selected years from the same time period. While some differences in authorship and the geographic distribution of research existed, the results from these journals generally mirrored patterns observed in the two focal ones-almost 54 percent of publications were based on research conducted in only ten countries, and most studies had lead authors from a developed country. The results of our review suggest that the geographical distribution of research in the tropics is unequal, and that some important regions remain understudied. The results also suggest a need for a greater focus on establishing collaborative relationships with scientists from tropical countries.

En este trabajo se presenta un análisis de las características que podrían tener las revistas electrónicas en el mundo y la situación específica de las revistas latinoamericanas, las cuales, según estudios realizados en los últimos dos años, muestran un panorama poco alentador. Se tomó una muestra de revistas que cumplen con los criterios de calidad de Latindex, específicos para revistas electrónicas, y se investigó cuál era la prevalencia de características como la hipertextualidad, el uso de multimedios, la interactividad usuario/revista y la presencia de metadatos no automáticos. Sólo 15% de las revistas tiene funciones de hipertextualidad y navegación en los contenidos de sus artículos; 12% usa multimedios, y únicamente 4% tiene foros para que los lectores interactúen entre sí, en tanto el 62% tiene metadatos que no son automáticos. No obstante, se resalta la presencia de varias revistas que constituyen ejemplos de buenas prácticas, de acuerdo con la valoración de los parámetros que fueron analizados. Los resultados demuestran la existencia de destacables excepciones en la región y la necesidad de redoblar esfuerzos en la capacitación de los editores para mejorar y utilizar mejor los recursos que ofrece la web. O presente estudo objetivou analisar a produção científica brasileira da área de orientação profissional no período compreendido entre a década de 50 até o ano de 2005. Para tanto, procedeu-se à busca bibliográfica nas bases de dados eletrônicas BVS e IndexPsi em fevereiro de 2006, utilizando-se as palavras-chave Orientação Profissional, Orientação Vocacional, Interesses Profissionais, Escolha Profissional e Testes de Interesse para busca. Dessa busca, foram extraídos resumos e referências, daqueles que os possuíam. Os resultados revelaram que houve um aumento da produção a partir da década de 90 e que os trabalhos tratavam mais de revisões teóricas e de verificação da qualidade dos instrumentos de avaliação. Dentre as estratégias de avaliação mais utilizadas encontravam-se as técnicas não padronizadas e os instrumentos de interesse.

RESUMO: Trata-se de levantamento de artigos publicados em Psicologia Organizacional e do Trabalho (POT), de 2001 a 2005, nas revistas brasileiras: Estudos de Psicologia, Psicologia e Sociedade, Psicologia em Estudo, Psicologia: Reflexão e Crítica, Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa, Psicologia USP, e Psicologia: Organizações e Trabalho. A análise considerou número de artigos, temas, metodologia, referências, formação profissional e área de atuação dos autores. De 1105 textos publicados, 178 (16%) foram em POT. Os artigos foram classificados em nove categorias temáticas. Do total de artigos analisados, 30% eram teóricos e 70% empíricos. A maioria dos autores é de psicólogos e está vinculada às universidades. Dentre os principais resultados, destacam-se a diversidade temática e metodológica da produção científica em POT, bem como a preocupação em contemplar as mudanças sociais, econômicas, políticas e tecnológicas. BACKGROUND: The concept of a tree of life is prevalent in the evolutionary literature. It stems from attempting to obtain a grand unified natural system that reflects a recurrent process of species and lineage splittings for all forms of life. Traditionally, the discipline of systematics operates in a similar hierarchy of bifurcating (sometimes multifurcating) categories. The assumption of a universal tree of life hinges upon the process of evolution being tree-like throughout all forms of life and all of biological time. In multicellular eukaryotes, the molecular mechanisms and species-level population genetics of variation do indeed mainly cause a tree-like structure over time. In prokaryotes, they do not. Prokaryotic evolution and the tree of life are two different things, and we need to treat them as such, rather than extrapolating from macroscopic life to prokaryotes. In the following we will consider this circumstance from philosophical, scientific, and epistemological perspectives, surmising that phylogeny opted for a single model as a holdover from the Modern Synthesis of evolution.

RESULTS: It was far easier to envision and defend the concept of a universal tree of life before we had data from genomes. But the belief that prokaryotes are related by such a tree has now become stronger than the data to support it. The monistic concept of a single universal tree of life appears, in the face of genome data, increasingly obsolete. This traditional model to describe evolution is no longer the most scientifically productive position to hold, because of the plurality of evolutionary patterns and mechanisms involved. Forcing a single bifurcating scheme onto prokaryotic evolution disregards the non-tree-like nature of natural variation among prokaryotes and accounts for only a minority of observations from genomes.

CONCLUSION: Prokaryotic evolution and the tree of life are two different things. Hence we will briefly set out alternative models to the tree of life to study their evolution. Ultimately, the plurality of evolutionary patterns and mechanisms involved, such as the discontinuity of the process of evolution across the prokaryote-eukaryote divide, summons forth a pluralistic approach to studying evolution.

How does science evolve? This study confronts this problem here by showing different models of scientific development from sociology, philosophy and history of science. Firstly, this paper clarifies the concept of science and scientific research. Secondly, the study proposes different theories that can explain how science and its scientific disciplines develop over the course of time. Thirdly, some relevant laws about the production and evolution of science and scientific fields are presented. Overall, then, this study clarifies, as far as possible, some approaches and characteristics of the evolutionary dynamics of science that can lay a foundation for the development of comprehensive properties to explain the advancement of science and technology in society.

Community-based tourism may have potential in countries and regions with few
other competitive exports, or in areas that are vulnerable to traditional economic
activities by compromising the livelihoods of many populations. Therefore, it is
questioned how the authors have treated Community Based Tourism (TBC) in
their research? How is the academic-scientific research developed on the subject and what is its treatment regarding to conventional or mass tourism? Which analysis cuts are considered in the study of Community Based Tourism? Thus, the objective of this article is to analyze the scientific production on TBT at a global level and its potential for local development. Methodologically, it is depicted as descriptive, documentary, quantitative and longitudinal. So, it could be accomplished, a bibliometric research was done, where 100 articles were analyzed in Scielo, sciencedirect, capes, sbecotur (periodical) databases, during the period of 2011 till 2015, composing a mental map of the related productions, and bibliographical, as well as documentary research, to present the state of the art on the subject. As a result, the main themes related to the TBC, the study territories, the shaping elements, and the contribution of Community Based Tourism for the development of the host communities are observed.

This article reviews the scientific production of the Spanish universities in the areas of Social Sciences and Language Sciences during the period 1986-1988. A series of quantitative criteria are being applied to the submission of data on total scientific production, productivity rate, publications/authors ratio, coauthorship, type of documents edited and their distribution, all of them broken down per university. Last but not least, a review is made of the distribution by subjects of each publication. The results obtained underline the increasing rate of production achieved in the three-year period, a certain stagnation in the number of authors and in team research activities, a far too endogamic diffusion in periodical publications and a somewhat unbalanced thematic diversification as compared to the geographical and cultural variety of our country. The article concludes by suggesting new lines of study for determining the factors that may explain the existing patterns of scientific production, and for identifying useful bibliometric measures aiming at an assessment of this type of literature.

The paper assesses the empirical foundation of two largely held assumptions in science policy making, namely scale and agglomeration effects. According to the former effect, scientific production may be subject to increasing returns to scale, defined at the level of administrative units, such as institutes or departments. A rationale for concentrating resources on larger units clearly follows from this argument. According to the latter, scientific production may be positively affected by external economies at the geographical level, so that concentrating institutes in the same area may improve scientific spillover, linkages and collaborations.  Taken together, these arguments have implicitly or explicitly legitimated policies aimed at consolidating institutes in public sector research and at creating large physical facilities in a small number of cities. The paper is based on the analysis of two large databases, built by the authors from data on the activity of the Italian National Research Council in all scientific fields and of the French INSERM in biomedical research. Evidence from the two institutions is that the two effects do not receive empirical support. The implications for policy making and for the theory of scientific production are discussed.

Resumo: O sistema universitário possui um papel fundamental e indiscutível na geração e transmissão de conhecimento em grande maioria dos países do mundo. Com o passar dos últimos anos, aumentou-se muito a necessidade de avaliação e análise delas, para que, dentre outros fatores, haja uma distribuição de recursos mais adequada. O principal objetivo deste trabalho é produzir um conjunto de indicadores bibliométricos quantitativos que permitam determinar como se dá a produção científica brasileira entre os anos de 2003 e 2012, em termos de evolução temporal, especialização temática e visibilidade, com um enfoque nas seis universidades públicas localizadas no Estado de São Paulo. Realizou-se a coleta dos registros bibliográficos com a busca avançada da plataforma internacional Web of Science (Wos) e na ferramenta Journal Citation Reports (JCR). Foram utilizados macros de programação e um sistema de gestão MSqL com uma base de dados relacional. Dentre os resultados ressalta-se o importante crescimento que a produção teve no período, o ranking das vinte instituições mais produtivas, quase todas pertencentes à região Sudeste do Brasil e a expressiva participação paulista no total da produção brasileira. Além do mais, verificou-se que física, ciências biomédicas e ciências biológicas são as áreas mais pesquisadas e que aproximadamente um terço dos documentos estão indexados no primeiro quartil das revistas melhor posicionadas por seus fatores de impacto. Todos esses resultados formarão parte de uma pesquisa de doutorado que pretende contribuir para a ampliação do conhecimento e análise da atividade investigativa de todo o sistema universitário brasileiro, oferecendo uma informação atualizada e confiável.

Populations located in the vicinity of slopes and soils derived from volcanic ash are constantly at risk due to the possibility of landslides. Such is the case of the city of Manizales, Colombia, which, due to its geomorphological characteristics, has experienced a significant number of landslides that have caused human and economic losses. The Internet of things (IoT) has allowed important technological advances for monitoring, thanks to the low cost and wide coverage of IoT-based systems. Slope monitoring and the development of landslide early warning systems (EWS) have been positively impacted by IoT developments, which shows a relationship. The objective of this article is to review, from the scientific production, the relationship between IoT and EWS. For this purpose, a fragmenting-deriving-combining methodology is applied to focus on a research trends analysis of the subject, from macroareas such as IoT and EWS to micro areas such as EWS by IoT-based landslides. Finally, the analysis concluded that the conceptual models of IoT and EWS for landslides have some correspondence in some of their layers.

There are important transformations for the Environmental Psychology in Spain since its birth and first steps until its full development. In this work we try to reflect this evolution. Our main objective is centered in the analysis of the development and extent of empirical Environmental Psychology research in Spain. The last twenty years scientific production has been progressively consolidated. The

UNIVERSIDAD DE MÁLAGA Resumen Este repertorio bibliográfico, cuya extensión aconseja publicarlo en varias entregas, se propone cubrir lo más exhaustivamente posible la producción científica sobre erotismo y sexualidad en la Antigüedad (y en menor medida también sobre Women and Gender Studies) en los últimos cincuenta años, incluyendo una selección de estudios anteriores de particular importancia.

We performed a bibliometric search covering a 1-year period to evaluate the number and the scientific "weight" of nuclear medicine papers published from European as compared with other countries. The scientific impact of our discipline was evaluated according to the impact factor of each publication, and we also aimed to identify those countries and topics that are making the principal contributions to the development of our discipline. To this end, a search on MEDLINE (PubMed) was run to find all peer-reviewed articles published between April 2002 and May 2003, using isotope definitions as search terms. A total of 3,292 publications were identified. Of these, 650 were of no nuclear medicine interest, 229 were reviews and 82 had no country specified. In absolute numbers, Europe leads research in nuclear medicine (939 papers, 38.9%) followed by the USA (608 papers, 25.2%). Among European countries, Germany is the nation that is currently making the greatest contribution to the scientific production of nuclear medicine in Europe. Articles concerning the use of nuclear medicine in oncology account for more than one-quarter of all published nuclear medicine papers.

El presente artículo presenta la actividad innovadora y producción científica de Puerto Rico, Irlanda y Corea del Sur. Los datos fueron obtenidos utilizando las bases de datos de Medline, Compendex, Science Citation Index y la oficina de Patentes de Estados Unidos (en línea). Estos servicios y fuentes de información especializados son indispensables en los procesos de investigación e innovación, se utilizan también para dar seguimiento y evaluar estos procesos. El periodo de búsqueda se limitó a los años 2001 al 2007 y la misma se realizó utilizando palabras clave. Para identificar la producción científica se evaluó cuantos artículos fueron publicados durante este periodo por los diferentes países. Por otro lado para identificar la actividad innovadora se tomó en consideración el número de patentes solicitadas y concedidas durante este periodo. Los resultados de esta investigación reflejan que los años de mayor producción para cada país se dieron durante el 2005 al 2007 y el país con mayor producción y actividad científica para este periodo fue Corea del Sur.

The aim of the study is to characterize the worldwide scientific production on emotional intelligence in the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The study is quantitative with bibliometric methodology. Its scope is descriptive and retrospective. The unit of study was considered to be the world scientific production generated on emotional intelligence, in the period from 2000 to 2021. A total of 2000 documents from the Web of Science database and 2000 from Scopus were analyzed. Regarding the number of authors, Scopus presents 4053 and Web of Science 4190 authors. The rate of collaboration between authors is slightly higher in Web of Science (2.26) compared to 2.22 in Scopus. The article "The effects of leader and follower emotional intelligence on performance and attitude: An exploratory study" stands out as the most cited document in this period and Konstantinos Petrides of University College London as the author with the highest number of publications on emotional intelligence. The journal Personality and Individual Differences (Elsevier) is the medium with the largest number of documents on the subject. The United States is the main producer of scientific evidence, highlighting its collaborations with the United Kingdom. The type of scientific production that stands out most is original articles. It is most important databases, generating a complete and comparative analysis highlighting the global trends in research related to emotional intelligence.

This article investigates whether pioneers in a research field have a sustainable first mover advantage in publications. Combining bibliometric (publications, citations, co-authorship) with survey data on 495 nanotechnology researchers, we analyzed career attributes, professional context and production overtime. Our econometric estimates highlight two main results. First, pioneering behavior is not exogenous: it is more probable among scientists who are already established in their "mother-discipline" (before entering nanotechnology), have a strong collaboration network, and have easy access to field-specific resources. Second, even after controlling for the endogeneity of entry timing, we find a strong first mover advantage: pioneers in the emerging field exhibit significantly higher scientific production in that field in the long run.

The paper analyses the Italian contribution to the world scientific production, its relative citation impact, its international collaborations and scientific productivity compared with the most productive EU countries over the period 1980-2009. It shows that despite the fact that the level of funding has been dramatically low during the past decades, Italian science has been able to increase its performance up to 2007. Italian science is a "cathedral in the desert". However, a recent reduction in the level of scientific production, the lagging behind in international scientific collaboration (highly correlated with the relative citation impact) and the great heterogeneity of researchers' productivity (absence of correlation of number of researchers with quality and quantity of scientific production) may mark the start of a decline of Italian science. The paper concludes that the increased funding must go hand-in-hand with reform of autonomy and governance and calling for a sound system of internal quality control and performance enhancement.

Purpose -The purpose of this paper is to examine the publication output of Research in Higher Education for subject support in collection development in the light of growing interest in diversified domains of research in higher education. Design/methodology/approach -The paper presents a quantitative analysis of 202 articles published in Research in Higher Education from 2000 to 2005. It employs bibliometric analysis to investigate the publication distribution, authorship patterns, research collaborations among scholars, and citation analysis to profile surrogated information for higher education resource management. Findings -Analysis of 40 issues of publications revealed a diversified usage pattern of bibliographic reference sources by contributing researchers, with a cumulative total of citations being 8,374. A positive trend in research collaboration of contributing authors, and a steady growth in the use of reference sources, periodicals and web documents in the citations signify the trend of scholarly communication of research works in the electronic age. Similar to other disciplines of research findings, journals and books were the most cited source materials for researchers discussed. Originality/value -This paper serves as a window to understanding the scientific productivity of contributing scholars, specifically in the field of higher education. This may assist researchers' and stakeholders' collection management decisions, and provide a referencing source for library professionals and policy makers.

The paper contributes to ongoing debate on the relationship between publishing and patenting in university. By applying event history analysis to patent and publication data for a sample of Italian academic scientists, we show that more productive scientists are more likely to become academic inventors, to no detriment of their orientation towards basic research. Research co-operation with industry is a useful predictor of patenting, when IPRs are owned by business companies.

In order to prevent the formation of a gap between the quality and quantity in Iranian scientific publications, this study makes an effort to analyze Iranian scientific publications indexed on the ISI Web of Science database using quantitative and qualitative scientometrics criteria over a ten year period. As a first step, all Iranian institutes were divided into three categories; universities, research institutes and other organizations. Then they were compared according to quantitative and qualitative criteria. Second, the correlation between the quality and quantity of the publications was measured. The research findings indicated that, according to qualitative criteria (citation, citation impact and percentage of cited documents) there are no meaningful differences among the three groups, while regarding quantitative criterion(number of papers), universities rank higher than the other two groups. The results also indicated that there is a positive and meaningful correlation among qualitative and quantitative criteria in the scholarly scientific publications conducted by Iranian organizations. In other words, in Iranian organizations the quality of publications increases as their quantity increases. The comparison of magnitude of correlation between these two criteria in the three categories reveals the fact that the correlation between number of papers and citations criterion in research institutes is stronger than the other two groups.

Nowadays, easy access, production and dissemination of information has been bringing about some repercussion in the scientific community and changed the structures of scientific production and dissemination. Improved opportunities of knowledge production in educational research in the country suggest the existence of a significant set of works revealing efforts to analyze and reflect on scientific production in this field. In this perspective, the integration of educational studies with studies in the field of information science are an important contribution in the task of identifying, selecting, collecting, systematizing, and structuring information systems that can widen up the field of studies in education. This article reports a research on scientific production in the field of history of education, consisting of scientific articles published in periodicals catalogued at SCIELO.

In any academic discipline, published articles in their respective journals represent "production units" of scientific knowledge, and bibliometric distributions reflect the patterns in this productivity across authors or "producers". We use a comprehensive data set from 11 leading marketing journals to examine whether there is any empirical regularity in the patterns of research productivity in the marketing literature. Our results present strong evidence that there is indeed a distinct empirical regularity. It is the so-called generalized Lotka's Law of patterns in scientific productivity: the number of authors publishing n papers is approximately 1/n c of those publishing one paper. We find the empirically estimated value of the exponent c to be 2.05 for the overall bibliometric data across the leading marketing journals. For individual journals, the estimated values of c range from 2.15 to 2.83, with lower values indicating higher authorship concentration levels. We also find that variations in authorship concentration levels across journals and over time are driven by a journal's maturity, its topical focus, its attractiveness as a publication outlet, the characteristics of its review process, and the extent of author collaboration present in the journal. We discuss the general implications of our findings.

O presente estudo tem por objetivo investigar e mapear a produção cientifica brasileira sobre o tema Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho em periódicos científicos de cunho nacional das bases de dados Spell, Sciello, Scopus, Science Direct, Web of Siences e Ebesco, de 2005 à 2015. Trata-se de um estudo bibliométrico, de natureza descritiva, com abordagem quantitativa, e coleta de dados secundários. Foram 59 artigos que compuseram a amostra final analisada, a qual propiciou destacar o estado da arte diante do tema Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho. Recomenda-se para pesquisas futuras, a fim de enriquecer as informações identificadas por este estudo, o levantamento bibliométrico sobre Qualidade de Vida no Trabalho em artigos em revistas internacionais.

We have developed a formula that assigns relative values to each author of the list of authors in any publication according to the authors' relative positions. The formula satisfies several criteria of theoretical and practical significance. We tested the formula's validity and usefulness with bibliographical references from the INSPEC database, mainly from the physical sciences. Enforced alphabetical sorting, different names of single authors and other statistical disturbances are accounted for. Our results demonstrate that our formula, or any other that satisfies several objective and quantitative criteria, can and often should be used as an additional criterion in the processes of evaluating relative scientific productivity, detecting experts in a given discipline, etc.
