Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are increasingly being adopted by organizations in developing countries. As in industrialized countries, this adoption seems beset by significant rates of failure, leading to a large waste of investment and other resources. This paper seeks to understand and Overview on ERP with respect to Insurance & Banking Industry. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are tools used by organizations to better manage their data and therefore, their resources. When deploying an ERP project, the stage of selection is of great importance, since appropriate selection increases the chances of success. The aim of this work is to conduct a review of the recent scientific literature on ERP selection, focused on small and medium enterprises. In carrying out this effort, scientific texts were divided in four major groups: methodological proposals, case studies, micro-sociological studies and critical success factors. In doing this, it moves beyond the factor lists that have so-far dominated analysis. Instead, it makes use of the "design—reality gap" model. This conceptual framework aims to be comprehensive but also contingent; sensitive to the specific conditions of any individual client organization. The design—reality gap model is applied to a case study of partial ERP failure in a Jordanian manufacturing firm. The model analyses the situation both before and during ERP implementation. It finds sizeable gaps between the assumptions and requirements built into the ERP system design, and the actual realities of the client organization. It is these gaps – and the failure to close them during implementation – that underlies project failure. The paper also draws conclusions about good practice in ERP implementation relating to both Insurance and Banking Industry. Also, gives the different list of ERP Software Applications.
