You cannot deliver long-term transformation through short-term contracts... Following her leadership interview at PrimaryCare+ 2026, we caught up with Laura Norton, Chief Operating Officer at North West Leicestershire GP Federation and PCN. Laura shares an honest perspective on the operational challenges facing primary care providers, including: ➡️ The uncertainty created by short-term contracts and unstable financial flows. ➡️ How planning for organisational survival can reduce productivity and innovation. ➡️ The potential for ambient scribes to release more clinical time for patients. ➡️ How multilingual AI tools could improve access and equity. ➡️ The risk of introducing another generation of fragmented, non-interoperable systems. ➡️ The importance of secure data sharing and joined-up technology. ➡️ Why funding must move alongside activity if more care is to be delivered in neighbourhoods. During her conference session, “From Strategy to Delivery: Running a High-Performing Federation in 2026”, Laura also explored the benefits of working at scale, lessons from implementing neighbourhood teams and MDTs, and the growing risks of failing to adapt. Her message is clear: primary care needs greater continuity and the contractual mechanisms to turn plans for neighbourhood care into meaningful change for patients. Watch the full interview below 👇 If activity is moving closer to patients, should the funding move with it? Digital pathology will not transform NHS services through technology alone, it needs standards, infrastructure and systems that work together... At Path360 2026, we caught up with Daniel Plews, Senior Business Development Manager at Source LDPath, part of Source BioScience, and Vice Convenor of AXREM’s Digital Pathology Special Focus Group. In this interview, Daniel discusses: ➡️ Bringing organisations from across the digital pathology ecosystem together with one industry voice. ➡️ The need for greater standardisation, funding and collaboration. ➡️ Ensuring scanners, image management systems, algorithms, storage and displays work together seamlessly. ➡️ Using digital pathology, AI and network collaboration to support workforce capacity. ➡️ Improving cancer diagnostic turnaround times. ➡️ The infrastructure challenges affecting digital adoption. ➡️ Helping NHS trusts procure scalable, interoperable and fit-for-purpose solutions. The interview complements Source LDPath’s Headline Sponsor session at the conference, which explored the move from analogue to digital pathology and how services can respond to updated NHS histopathology turnaround requirements. Watch the full interview below 👇 What is currently the greatest barrier to digital pathology adoption: infrastructure, interoperability or standardisation? Thank you to Daniel and the Source BioScience team for supporting Path360 and contributing to the conversation. #Path360 #NHS #DigitalPathology #Histopathology #Interoperability #CancerDiagnostics Leisha Hankin | Polly Mellor
