This morning, the #ETECcommunity welcomed Lucian Niemeyer, Founding Partner of the United Coalition for Advanced Nuclear Power (UCAN Power), for a discussion on the growing intersection of advanced nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, and national security. Drawing on decades of leadership in the Air Force, U.S. Senate, the Pentagon, and the White House, Lucian shared his perspective on the role advanced nuclear power can play in supporting the nation's energy future, strengthening federal missions, and meeting the growing demand for reliable power. Thank you to Lucian for joining us and to everyone who participated in another engaging Friday morning discussion. Thanks, too, to Barge Design Solutions for sponsoring this month's Friday morning meetings. #ETECFridayMornings #ETEC #ETECOnline #NuclearIsHere #TN2

One of the highlights of NOW happens after the sessions conclude. The Atomic After Party Reception gives conference attendees and ETEC members an opportunity to continue conversations, make new connections, and strengthen relationships across the nuclear community. A special thank you to Omega Technical Services, our Atomic After Party Supporter, for helping make this evening of networking possible. Whether you're involved in advanced reactors, fuel cycle, fusion, environmental management, national security, workforce development, research, or the supply chain, the Atomic After Party brings together the people helping shape the future of nuclear. We look forward to seeing everyone next week for NOW. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gq3JJUMD 📅 August 4-5, 2026 📍 Knoxville Convention Center #NOW2026 #ETEC #NuclearOpportunitiesWorkshop #NuclearEnergy #OakRidgeCorridor TENNESSEE NUCLEAR NETWORK [TN²]

Thank you, Emily for helping us tell the story and for being part of the #ETECcommunity!
"It's exciting times. We've got a lot going on in new nuclear. We've got a lot going on in generation. We've got a lot going on in development, and just as important, economic development is booming...The amount of economic development we should see in central, lower, and East Tennessee should be tremendous, so this will be a great time to be in East Tennessee." — Mike Skaggs, Interim President & CEO, TVA This quote captured the theme of my week. From the TENNESSEE NUCLEAR NETWORK [TN²] meeting, with updates from partners across the state, to hearing Mike Skaggs share his vision for Tennessee Valley Authority and our region, one message came through clearly: East Tennessee is #MovingMountains. Working in economic development communications often gives me the opportunity to see the collaboration happening behind the scenes. It's encouraging to watch so many different organizations working together to create opportunities that will have a lasting, positive impact on the people in #EastTN. Thank you to the East Tennessee Economic Council (ETEC) for bringing leaders together and facilitating these important conversations this week. It's an exciting time to help tell East Tennessee's story! #EconomicDevelopment #EastTennessee #NuclearEnergy #RegionalGrowth #ETEDA

Great recap Wes! There is so much happening and so many reasons to celebrate in East Tennessee. Thank you for being part of the #ETECcommunity!
Friday Morning Recap. I thoroughly enjoyed East Tennessee Economic Council (ETEC) this morning, per usual. Summer interns, a Navy nuclear officer turned civil engineer, and the Lt. Governor of Tennessee TRISO-X brought their summer class: nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, business management, automation and materials handling. Different schools, different majors, all pointed at the same corridor. Then Casey Tyree, PE, Senior Vice President and Director of Barge Design Solutions Private Client Center, walked through their work across the Southeast including here in Oak Ridge. Casey spent nearly six years as a Navy Surface Nuclear Officer before joining Barge. Thank you to Barge for sponsoring ETEC's meetings this month. Then Lt. Governor Randy McNally gave the 114th General Assembly update. Tennessee has held a triple AAA rating from S&P since 2016 and Moody's and Fitch's highest marks since 2010 only the second time in state history. Behind him: East Tennessee Economic Council (ETEC)'s map of the Oak Ridge Corridor BWXT, Centrus Energy Corp., Kairos Power, Lis Technologies Inc, NANO Nuclear Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: NNE), Oklo Inc, Orano, Standard Nuclear, TRISO-X, Type One Energy, Tennessee Valley Authority. And a preview of what's coming. The NOW Conference is Aug 4–5 at the Knoxville Convention Center, already past 1,050 registered with a week and a half to go. The panel I'd point people to: Powering the AI Future, day 2 at 10:15 AMD, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Intel, NVIDIA, and Microsoft, moderated by Scott Atchley Chief Technology Officer Oak Ridge National Laboratory. When the largest computing companies on earth send people to Knoxville to talk about where the electricity comes from, that tells you something about what's being decided here. Also on the agenda: recycling used nuclear fuel with Orano, Oklo Inc, and DOE. Advanced reactors with Kairos Power, Radiant, Westinghouse Electric Company, and NuScale Power. And Tennessee Valley Authority's Mike Skaggs on day 2. That's a Friday morning in Oak Ridge. #ETECFridayMornings #NuclearEnergy #Knoxville #OakRidge

This morning, the #ETECcommunity gathered for our July Featured Friday with ETEC Board meeting, where we welcomed leaders from the State of Tennessee, Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally, Senator Ken Yager, and Representative Rick Scarbrough for a legislative update. The discussion highlighted Tennessee's strong fiscal position and recent legislative investments supporting education, workforce development, infrastructure, and economic growth. They also discussed the state's continued commitment to advancing nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and other strategic initiatives that are helping position Tennessee and the Oak Ridge Corridor for long-term success. We appreciate Lieutenant Governor McNally's many years of service to Tennessee and look forward to recognizing his contributions at ETEC later this fall. Thanks, too, to Barge Design Solutions for sponsoring this month's Friday morning meetings. #ETECFridayMornings #ETEC #ETECOnline #OakRidgeCorridor #TN2
