Last week at Hello Tomorrow was one of those moments where you feel why deep tech is worth the long road. Together with Andre van Geelen, I had the opportunity to speak with investors, corporates, founders and many people from the Dutch and European high-tech ecosystem. What stood out to me most was the quality of the conversations: direct, curious and often very concrete. For CoolSem Technologies, these two days were another strong confirmation that thermal management in semiconductors is becoming a critical topic. As chips become more powerful, keeping them efficient, reliable and long-lasting is no longer a “nice to have”. It is becoming one of the real constraints for the next generation of semiconductor applications. That is exactly why we are building CoolSem: to keep next-generation semiconductors Cool at the Core. The new facility builds on a collaboration that started in late 2024, when Brabantse Ontwikkelings Maatschappij (BOM) and Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency introduced Hitachi High-Tech to the Eindhoven ecosystem. Since then, the company has worked closely with High Tech Campus Eindhoven and regional partners to establish its new R&D presence in Brabant. The presence of a global semiconductor leader like Hitachi High-Tech strengthens Brabant’s deep-tech ecosystem and creates new opportunities for collaboration across the semiconductor value chain. The event emphasized the critical importance of product bankability for new technologies that are reaching the market. The Bavarian Semiconductor Congress, held in Munich yesterday, proved to be a highly professional platform for the semiconductor industry from Bavaria, Germany and Europe. During a series of informative presentations and panel discussions, concrete topics such as production capacity, supply chain resilience, technology cooperation and talent development were addressed. The meetings with existing customers and strategic partners, as well as new contacts with international decision-makers, were of particular value.
