The Ontario government is rewarding the City of Belleville with $1,240,000 through the third round of the Building Faster Fund, which provides funding to municipalities that achieve at least 80 per cent of their provincially designated housing targets. In 2025, Belleville broke ground on 418 new homes, exceeding its annual target by almost 35 per cent. The funding will help the City of Belleville build more homes and community infrastructure while advancing the province’s plan to protect Ontario by investing in projects that support economic growth and keep workers on the job. The Housing Crisis won’t be solved by bigger bureaucracies and bigger budgets… Another day, another government program that promised the world but is struggling to deliver the basics. Australians were told Housing Australia and its $10 billion Future Fund would be a game changer. Instead, we are seeing questions around delivery, accountability and whether taxpayers are getting value for money. The reality is simple….you cannot fix a housing shortage by creating more government layers, committees and administration. You fix it by unlocking land, cutting unnecessary planning delays, encouraging private investment and letting the people who actually build homes get on with the job. The irony is that governments keep announcing “record investment” while everyday Australians are facing record affordability pressures. More spending does not automatically mean more homes. The housing crisis is a supply problem, not a lack-of-announcements problem. Australians need practical solutions, not political slogans and another expensive bureaucracy. Accountability matters. Outcomes matter. And taxpayers deserve better. #HousingCrisis #HousingSupply #TaxpayerValue #LessBureaucracy #EconomicResponsibility #AustralianFamilies
Margin Call: Housing Australia is so far failing to live up to its name. Anthony Albanese’s flagship housing program hasn’t yet built that many social and affordable homes, the $10bn future fund it oversees is being investigated by Auditor-General Caralee McLiesh and, to top it off, it seems like a pretty miserable place to work. It was great to speak with over 60 stakeholders at the GLCCA Brownfield Housing Fund workshop last week. Thank you to everyone who joined the session and participated in the discussion! And Ofcourse, I am so proud to have worked alongside such a brilliant Team comprised of Jessie Shorrock and Ruth Carver. A few key reminders for anyone considering an application: •There is £34 million available through the fund to help unlock brownfield sites and deliver much-needed homes. •The fund is open to private landowners, local authorities, housing associations, community groups and anyone with eligible brownfield land. •The intervention rate is £30,000 per unit, but this isn't a strict cap. Projects will be considered on their individual merits. Please make the most of the questions and queries window. It's there to help applicants seek clarification and strengthen their submissions before applying. Wishing everyone preparing an application the very best of luck. We are looking forward to seeing the innovative projects that come forward and the positive difference they'll make across our communities.
🌱 Let’s turn unused land into new homes We’re launching a 'call for sites' as part of the Brownfield Housing Fund. Have land that’s sitting empty? Know a plot that could be revitalised? Share it with us and help shape the future of local housing. 💡 Open to landowners, developers, housing associations and community groups 📍 Brownfield sites of all sizes welcome 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eWSgisRY Together, we can build the homes our area needs.
