Stefano Iacono shared thisOver the past few months, we partnered with TechPros to sit down with 14 senior B2B marketing leaders for our Market Makers series and ask them how they are actually navigating AI adoption. Here is what stood out to me. Kate Cox Guesty split the future of marketing into two roles: systems builders and tastemakers. Most teams are hiring for one and forgetting the other. Rebecca Angus at GBG Plc grew her ABM pipeline from £1.3 million to £8.5 million by getting marketing and SDRs working from the same intent signals. Laurence Lipworth at Globant GUT: every time you adopt a standardised AI best practice, you reduce your opportunity to be distinctive. The real skill is not creativity. It is imagination. Alex Venus at Personio has built hundreds of AI agents internally. His takeaway: accountability, not enthusiasm, is what drives adoption at scale. Erin Pearson at Evalueserve built an agent that pulls earnings reports, executive priorities and LinkedIn activity before every sales meeting. Her team no longer walks in cold. Julia Cames at Hays: do not abandon the practices that made you perform before. We do not really know yet which ones will still matter. Mario Escudero Alay at Philips sees a direct parallel with the "e"commerce of twenty years ago. Early adopters led, education followed, and eventually we stopped calling it a separate discipline. Elizabeth Maxson Martinet at Contentful now hires for what she calls the "full-stack marketer" — equal parts strategist and builder, led by curiosity, not just AI fluency. Pia Hämäri at Futurice has been running custom GPTs since 2023. One called Edwina manages event logistics across the organisation. Thought leadership stayed in human hands. Linda R. at Azets treats prompt engineering as a compounding skill that transfers across every role you will ever hold. Amir Jirbandey at Personio helped build a GTM AI council with the CRO at the table. AI adoption stalls as a marketing initiative. It sticks as an executive priority. Raine Pell at Sopra Steria is redesigning her entire marketing function around one distinction: transactional work versus value-add work. Julien Harazi at Keyloop found the champions first and let the results do the convincing. Elisabeth QUESSEVEUR at Creditsafe tested three AI platforms with identical prompts to find which one actually delivered. No theory. Just testing. Every conversation is live on Market Makers. One shift that's really paying off for #CreditsafeInternational is how AI has changed the dynamic between our marketing and sales teams. Previously, the "marketing magic" happened behind the scenes for sales colleagues, and automation processes were rather abstract. However, now that they can develop and automate their own workflows, it's making them more understanding of what marketing is actually about, and it closed a communication gap. Research gathered through AI feeds directly into sales conversations, supporting their ability to engage prospects with relevant, informed dialogue. Elements that may have seemed peripheral before are now integral to their own processes. This shared understanding has strengthened communication between both functions. I’m curious: how about you? What excites me most is how two distinct disciplines are emerging in the new AI driven model of marketing. We need systems builders, people who are good at building frameworks, processes and automations. And we need quality controllers and tastemakers, people who understand the nuance of marketing output and can see the bigger picture. At Guesty, we've embedded AI ambassadors across the whole business after seeing great success starting with customer support. My advice? Think of a use case you can solve relatively easily, solve it, get it live and measure it.
