Accelerate Innovation with Rapid Prototyping and HIL Testing

Rapid Control Prototyping and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing help accelerate innovation by enabling engineers to develop, test, and validate control systems early in the design process. Speedgoat real-time target machines, seamlessly integrated with Simulink, provide a powerful ecosystem for rapid development and reliable testing. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆—𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 Congratulations to the Swiss Solar Boat team from EPFL on being crowned Overall Champion of the 2026 Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. The competition brought together 54 teams from 21 countries to advance sustainable marine technology through cleaner propulsion, improved energy efficiency, autonomous capabilities, and innovative vessel design. Swiss Solar Boat competed with Lobst’Air, a three-seater Renewable Energy Foiler powered by a hybrid solar-hydrogen system. Designed for performance and autonomy, the vessel combines green hydrogen, solar energy, electric propulsion, and hydrofoil technology in one ambitious engineering platform. We are proud to have supported a small part of that journey. The team used Speedgoat as a central real-time control platform for the propulsion system. Described by Swiss Solar Boat as the “brain of the boat,” it communicated with the electronic speed controllers over CAN and helped the engineers test and characterize the motors under different load and speed conditions before integrating them into the vessel. That ability to validate controls before going onto the water is especially valuable in marine development, where real-world trials can be limited, costly, and dependent on weather and operating conditions. Real-time testing helps engineers refine functionality beforehand and gain more value from every run. Congratulations to Swiss Solar Boat—and to all participating teams for pushing sustainable marine technology forward through engineering, collaboration, and determination. - Explore the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge: https://loom.ly/kWL_HjM - Discover Swiss Solar Boat: https://loom.ly/Ix6YRzo #SwissSolarBoat #EPFL #MonacoEnergyBoatChallenge #SustainableMarineTechnology #MarineEngineering #Hydrogen #SolarEnergy #ElectricPropulsion #ControlEngineering #RealTimeTesting
